Jonathan Yukich is a playwright, professor and theatre artist. His work is published by Smith & Kraus, Playscripts, Inc., Meriwether Press, Eldridge Publishing, Pioneer Drama Service, Indie Theater Now and Batten Publishing. His plays have been produced across the United States and in Canada, Australia, Europe and South Africa. His work has received several awards and honors, including the Kennedy Center's Paula Vogel Award for Playwriting.
In 2012, his play American Midget received its European and New York premieres, and was hailed by the New York Times as "a little psychological gem" (see full review here). Of late, his new short play Mouse Galaxy received its premiere with the Salem Theatre Company, and two full-length plays Alice@Wonderland and Death & Biscuits were published and released (see below for links). Another short play, The Story of a Marriage, was just named a 2013 Finalist for the Heideman Award.
Currently, Jonathan is a Lecturer in the Theater Program at the University of New Haven. Previously, he has taught at the City University of New York (CUNY), the State University of New York (SUNY), Elms College, Montclair State University, Indiana University and Southern Connecticut State University. He has taught playwriting workshops and theatre seminars at the University of Montana, Dickinson College and New York University.
Jonathan is also a trained and experienced director. His directing projects have ranged from new works for the stage to the plays of Pinter, Shepard, and Shakespeare, among others. He is a graduate of the MFA playwriting program at Indiana University.
